Hybrid Rubus from Seed

I have saved some fruit from an odd Strawberry/Rasberry hybrid I purchased (looks like a small raspberry plant but with fruit like strawberrys - looks great, tastes kind of bland) and also from some hybrid blackberry cultivars.

I could just propagate by taking cuttings but thought it might be interesting to plant the seeds to see what comes up. I realize the F2 generation will probably be very odd - thats the fun of it!

So, have you ever propagated Rubus from seeds? How did you do it? Do you think either one if these seed types need stratification?

I have attached some screenshots below.

The Strawberry/raspberry has lots of seeds - don't know if they are viable. The blackberry cultivars (of various types) have no visible seeds. I am letting them rot down at the moment in the thoughts that that would probably simulate what happens in nature. Other than passing them through a digestive tract :-)

Hmmm.... I now see what you mean. I did not know Rubus Illecebrosus existed as a species. It is sold around here as a strawberry/raspberry hybrid. I assume this is one of those errors that just seem to propagate forever.

Does anybody think R. Illecebrosus will cross with raspberrys? Any ideas how to get the seeds to germinate.

There is a thread I've been following on the growing fruit forum where there is a guy who has successfully crossed raspberry and strawberry by hand. I think he is on the F3 generation now.

I believe he had to use a wild strawberry species that was diploid to get chromosomes to match up with raspberry.

I wonder if those improved blackberries have been bred to be seedless?
Our wild blackberries here are very seedy indeed.  Pretty well crunchy with seeds.
