Akebia (chocolate vine)

This perennial vine has been on my list of plants to consider growing for awhile.  The flowers aren't all that pretty, but the chocolate scent sounds nice.  It's hardy to zone 5 to 6, and I'm in zone 7.  It's said to be drought tolerant, which is a trait I highly value.

I'm thinking I want to get seeds from someone who has a vine or two with good-tasting fruit.  I've read the fruit is highly variable in flavor -- some are delicious, some are meh -- so I'd want to get seeds that are likely to give me fruit I enjoy.

Any recommendations?

They're selling seed which may have crossed with various species.

I'm unsure if you're still interested or not.

Taste can vary greatly, it's mostly all personal preference.

I picked up a couple of akebias several years ago and I can attest that they are both cold hardy and drought tolerant. I accidentally killed one with an errant scythe blade, but the other one is still going strong. I've been wanting to grow more of them, and seeing your thread reminds me that I should seek out some seeds.
