We were recently talking about Sunviva which is not listed amongst the 147 tomatoes on the OSSI website https://osseeds.org/ossi-varieties/?crop=Tomato

Along with Sunviva on the European website above there are two others and one of them Vivagrande is also late blight resistant in the details. Intriguing?!

I don't understand why they wouldn't be cross listed with the OSSI here in the U.S. and vice versa?

Vivagrande does not seem to have a U.S. source but that is ok as Sunviva does, and we have lots of tomatoes to work with here too.

If you live in Europe have you tried Vivagrande?

http://opensourceplantbreeding.org/forum/index.php?topic=58.90 Ah it looks that ThomatoGarden has and rated Vivagrande a 6 and Sunviva a 7

Yes i grow Vivagrande in the LB year 2021 in Netherland. It has good resistance for late blight. Its a nice beef tomato.
I alsomade F1 crosses with Vivagrande, only do not know when i will test them.

Roland,

That is some systematic work. I had to look many of them up. Why don't you know when you will grow them? Lack of space?

Yes, Lack of space. In 2021 i made 110 crosses to test. And i will also go on with my Galahad project.
In 2022 i will grow a lot of crosses with Sunviva.

Well, the seeds will last ~14 years.

Can you crowd them into the space you have?

110 crosses would be pretty epic for me! Were they all late blight resistance crosses?

Seems logical given Sunviva's interesting flavor.

Is 111 a misprint? Sunviva x Sunviva?

Anyone ever hear of the Kotlas tomato variety? Seedstrust says it is "proven blight resistant"

Wonder which blight?

Assuming you are fond of them, if you are ordering from Kokopelli anyway, you should also get a packet of the Kaiser Alexander cucumbers. They are EXCELLENT cucumbers, and for their type, very cold hardy (they are probably the most cold tolerant of all Kiva type cucumbers.)

"Cream of The Crop Tomato: Although crossing is still wrapping up, we have ripe fruit on the first pollinated flower on most of the new F1 hybrid crosses.  Most of the new hybrids are beefsteak types this year, and we'll have enough F1 seed to sample out for testing with third party partners.  All the new hybrids have our standard multiple disease resistance package of ToMV, TSWV, VFF, and LM, and most also have Ph2/Ph3 late blight resistance.  Our hybrid parents are selected rigorously for high flavor and fruit quality - which we expect will be passed on in the hybrid."

Recently seen on Facebook from Cream of The Crop and Frogsleap Farm with a photo of a striped, red tomato. This could bode well for more tomatoes like Purple Zebra F1 in coming years.

Hi Thomas,
That Kokopelli site you referenced is an interesting read. They also have Koralik which the Bangor research project (See reply #66 above) reckons has a different blight resistance.
Amongst a load of other fascinating stuff they have some colourful Fava Beans which should interest William! (Shame the website is so hard to navigate.)

I tried searching it for Vicia but not sure if all the favas popped out.

I reckon I'll stick with native seed search in Arizona!

I don't have any fancy favas, but I do have seeds of Koralik I can send you.
