orange corn: I thought I would try my hand at making an orange sweet corn. To that end, last year I grew out some orange flint corn seed from Frank Kutka, by the name of Dziekuje, and pollinated it with my Tuxana (white). Joseph Lofthouse has already developed an orange sweet corn. My thought for 2019 is to grow out my crossed seeds, detassel, and pollinate with Joseph's high carotene line. From there, I am open to ideas.
If your goal is an orange sweet, why are you introducing the flint?
What do you want different from Joseph's orange sweet? Could you get that in a sweet and cut out a step?
Pick out orange sweet kernels as next step? Replant and repeat?
There is not too much orange & sweet out there. most sweets, I think, come from flints. wrinkled kernels are easy to choose. There are other traits I may try to cross or select in later, but for now I go where the orange is.
I say go for it! The more genetic diversity the better!
Joseph, is your orange South American - North American deep orange corn available commercially? Is there a sweetcorn sub-variety of it?

Buffalo seed company has two packets left in stock of Joseph's high carotene sweet.
Joseph has a list on his website of the folks he knows of who are growing and selling his seeds. Seems like people are doing a pretty good job keeping Joseph's seed stock in production.

I am grateful for the people that are keeping my varieties alive, as I age out of the more active pursuit of variety development.
I got a community garden plot this year. My kids wanted to plant corn. So today I planted a few rows of Double Red Sweet (su), a few rows of my purple foliage Indian corn (will be detassled), and a few rows of a mix of Spero's Orange Sweet (se) and Joseph Lofthouse's orange sweet (se).
I will plan to save seeds for purple/red foliage with orange kernel se sweet corn
