Subject: Sheffield Tomato Fest - Saturday 14th September - book today!
To:
A reminder and an invitation to Sheffield Tomato Fest 2024!
We're celebrating the tomato trials we've been running this year by holding a Tomato Fest in Sheffield on Saturday 14th September.
There are two events: the first is open to the community and will include tomato competitions (bring tomatoes!), a tour of the Meersbrook Walled Garden, a seed swap (bring seeds!), tomato dress up etc. and tickets are available (free) here.
The second event in the evening will feature local tomato breeder Simon Crawford talking about his work, tasting of the trial tomatoes, and a delicious tomato based meal. It's a little more targeted to those that might be interested in plant breeding, food tasting and the more technical aspects of growing. Tickets are just £5 and are available here. But you must book today if you'd like to come and eat!
There will be plenty of opportunities to meet and chat with other local growers at both!
I've attached a flyer for each - please do feel free to spread the word to those that might wish to come.
And let me know if you've any questions!
Take care,
Catherine

The Sheffield Tomato Fest was blessed with wonderful weather.
Apart from a tasting of the Blight Resistant Trial (See post #285 on the Breeding for Late Blight Resistant Tomatoes thread) There were plenty of other varieties to sample.
It was interesting to hear Simon Crawford talking from his experience.

Looks really interesting, however I missed your original post and didn't realise it was on.
I have now set a reminder in my calendar to look for it next year. Please do post a notice beforehand again next year.
That's a lovely spread there Tim! Lots of good looking fruit. Any favorites for taste?
Hi A.Pel,
This might be a good list to keep an eye on: https://www.seedsovereignty.info/events/upcoming-events/ It's currently listing a couple of UK events at which Joseph is speaking!
Hi Steph,
My palette struggles to comparatively remember more than a few tastes! Sart Roloise was popular. I liked Lithium Sunset. Barry's Crazy Cherry has been on my 'potential' list for a while, and got promoted to a definite for next year. I also liked Carbon.
