prickly-leaved cucumbers to deter deer

My daughter's garden is frequented by deer which like to eat cucumber plants, though not if the leaves are prickly.  There are pickling cucumbers which have prickly fruit, but she wants smooth cucumbers to eat in a salad.

Are there salad cucumbers that have prickly leaves?
