I found out in December that I may be what is termed a "non bitter taster" as I don't particularly hate brussel sprouts as much as others do. Apparently you can get bitter taste PTC paper strips to find out.

I found this out after my daughter and my wife tried a yellow fleshed watermelon I grew last year. They both hated it, while I didn't mind it overall. It did have an odd faint after flavor though, so i wonder if it has citron ancestry from my citron melon hybrid project. But, I hadn't even thought about me not being able to fully taste bitterness. I will have to rely on others tastes as well as my own for future breeding projects.
