I wonder if their investors might have been waiting for Ph-2 + Ph3 to loose resistance?

Hi Diane, I'm curious about this one. Do you have anything to report on its late blight resistance? I see Tatiana's website says "Late blight resistant" but it would be really interesting to know how it performs now, especially compared to the modern late blight resistant varieties.

Hi,

Seems like

Primabella x Sunviva
Primabella x Giant Bulgarian Tomato

was successful  if anyone in Europe wants seeds i can send them
(Fruits are not ripe now, maybe 15.3.2024!?)

Roland

How was the F1, taste, production and fruit size?

Hi TG,
Primabella x Sunviva is already on my list of F1s to create this year!

Giant Bulgarian looks an unreliable parent to me, there appear to be quite a few cultivars floating around under that name. ...

Hi Tim,
you can have some Primabella x Sunviva  Seeds (if there are enough, maybe around 15.3)

Tested this strain of "Giant Bulgarian Tomato" for 2 years here,
it has really the biggest red Tomatos here, up to 1kg.
Also its a very vigorous and vital Plant, Flowers early, reliable and at low Temps.
The Taste is also ok.

The Idea was simply to use the biggest Tomato i have, and lets see :-)
Wonder how big the Result will be.

For Sunviva x Primabella the goal is to get a more crack resistant yellow Tomato than Sunviva, for
the rainy weather here. (and mybe also a red cherry Tomato)

Wow that sounds great. I have actually been searching for the biggest possible tomato! But, without relying on megablooms. (Trying to catch all the size genes/QTLs in one package). Would you say that qualifies? Like, it is reliably very big, not just the occasional megabloom fruits?

Also, did you ever try Omar's Lebanese? I found it while searching for these criteria:

Tatiana says '18-24 oz', which is around 510~680g. (Some people report larger than this). I'd be interested if you have, to hear how it compares in terms of size, taste, health and productivity. Or general reports from anyone else who might have grown it.

There are also many Pictures, including one with a scale
My biggest Tomato was 980g, normal round shape.

Puszta Kolosz is similar.

but grew it only once.

Didn't grow Omar's Lebanese up now.

In 2022 i grow Sunviva x Primabella F1. Production is low with 7-9 fruits in a cluster.
Red Peal x Sunviva F1 is much better in taste, but resistance is less.

I did not make a lot of notes for Sunviva x Primabella F1 so it was not special for me.

Hi Maf,
It's bred by Burpee Europe, and if you are interested in it JUMP QUICK because, according to Hortweek Burpee is pulling out of the UK market in the next couple of months. So I guess non of our usual suppliers will carry Merrygold next year.
