List of fertile potato varieties
« on: 2020-04-07, 10:33:45 PM »
This is my current, and assuredly incomplete list of fertile potato varieties, or those that will frequently produce berries.  This is separated into continents where they are or have been grown.  Feel free to add to this list. If you are looking to grow potatoes that produce their own berries, locating a seed tuber source for some of those on this list would be a good starting point.

PINK FIR APPLE - does not produce berries for me every year, but regularly enough, here in Ontario.

Pink Fir Apple is either male sterile or at best, only weakly fertile.  It may set berries reliably for you, but it is most likely being cross pollinated from another potato, if so.

I would hope so! (That it's being fertilized by something else, I mean.) But good to know.

Pink Fir Apple is notoriously difficult to get berries to set on it.

Rebsie has done so but says:

These include Pink Fir Apple (syn. Rose Finn Apple) which not only has male sterility issues, it often can't be bothered to set a berry even when it's given fertile pollen.

The Norlands (Norland, Red Norland, Dark Red Norland) can also be listed as all varieties produce berries, though the amounts of berries depends on the breed
