We had an amazing fall - amazingly warm. Lots of days in the 20's in September and overall 15C plus days right through October. But we had three frosts in the last two weeks, white on the ground. Epsilon is dropping 30-40 mm of rain overnight and then we're expected to drop below seasonal for a change. Foreseeable highs no more than 5 C and frosty nights will be the rule next week they say. I'm still picking peas and tomatoes. Had outdoor tomatoes picked before frost last week. Couple of late crosses in the greenhouse I'm waiting to ripen.
We are down to ten hour days on October 31st, so it's over for everything but leeks anyway.

We had our first heavy frost or freeze yesterday morning. Actual ice was on the the truck windshield but nothing was damaged as far as plants go. Have had over five inches of rain in last couple of weeks.

Raining at the moment, had 26mm or just over an inch during the night, got three more days of showers before the sun comes back, the wet spring keeps on.

We are in the running for top three warmest Decembers on record.
One snowfall about 20 cm which was gone two days later after warm temperatures and rain.
No snow on the ground at present. Deep freezes at night though. Many perennials that normally stay green under the snow all winter, are brown to the ground.

We've had mostly warm(ish) weather with a couple cold snaps, 7 F was the coldest and the following day stayed below 20 F. Mostly we have had highs in the 40s or 50s. A steady rain falling right now.
Surprisingly my cold hardy cabbage and related patch is still looking very good. I was afraid as in my past attempts the brief very cold snaps punctuating the otherwise warm periods would wipe it out. Not sure the difference between this and the prior attempts except this time I started them earlier so had larger more established plants going in to fall.
